Josie's Introduction
Title
Description
Hello everyone! My name is Josie Timmons and I’m currently a student at the University of Louisville majoring in both Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies. I am extremely excited to get the chance to participate in a study abroad in South Africa, partially because I have never been out of the United States, but mostly because I am interested in drawing parallels between class materials from our Race, Gender and Social Justice U.S./South Africa comparative history course, as well as being able to expand my knowledge and understanding of the culture, history, and society of South Africa. I am looking forward to working with Ingrid Askew and the Womanspirit project. I am interested in doing research in the future, so I am particularly enthused by the opportunity to conduct Oral Histories with refugee women. I have a feeling this trip is going to be a life changing experience.
